Christmas

I suddenly recall something from the past and it's about Christmas. I've had gatherings over at a relative's place where my cousins will all be around and we'll gather around collecting presents from the adults. I remember I liked it a lot and the present I've received was a moon globe figurine which I get to paint in colours. Then I started to look forward to Christmas and waited for the next one to come. But it never did. Not the way I wished for. That was the last family gathering we had back in the nineties to celebrate Christmas. I wonder why the adults didn't keep up with it.

2 more days & it would've been exactly 3 mths since i last blogged.
kinda got myself so caught up in living out my daily routines that i forgot i even had a blog.

planning for my big day has been hectic and rather troublesome.
but as the day goes by with more and more decisions being made each day for the preparation of it,
it's somewhat exciting yet nerve-wrecking for me.
being such a control freak, i anticipate the end result but being paranoid as usual, i fear for hiccups. it's a rollercoaster ride for my emotions. but i'm glad somehow that no matter what it is, i have people whom i can ask advice from and friends offering their help in every possible way.

many say, wedding is about the couple. but i say, it's through the preparation of it where you'll get to see who shares your joy and every ounce of it is instilled into making things work.

i am clearly aware how a 'wedding' or 'being married' is not the 'final destination'. it's more like a milestone. a start for a new phase of my life.

as usual, instead of harping on the bad (i forgot what's bad hah!), i rather harp on the good/blessings i received.

• i had gu with me all the way altho i'm told how men usually can't be bothered
• i had iman to help me with the bridal shop scouting and wedding band scouting (lucky me!)
• ching to help with the planning & music list
• lijun offering to help me my MUA for mom/sisters but too bad our dates clashed
• Ranna with all the guo-lai-ren advises (can't say how grateful i am)
• two hansum man agreeing to help emcee
• dear couz who shares my excitement & agreed to help jaga guest list & open car door
• feng n YL agreeing to be my sisters
• Ben agreeing to help come along with me to describe what i want for my photoshoot & asking around for cheaper instax film px & imparting gu knowledge on wine choices
• HL agreeing to be bouncer for my album during AD....
• & of course not forgetting dearest mom & dad.

i'm blessed with the help from so many lah. aiyo. can't complain. :)

so far i think i have half my checklist completed:

• Prepare fees / angpows where applicable, e.g. officiant, bridesmaids/groomsmen
• Start breaking in your shoes so they won't pinch on the day
• Confirm all other arrangements that has not been finalised.
• Start planning emcee script. To share schedule with them.

2 weeks to go...(late August 2010)

• Collect dresses
• Arrange for bridal flowers to be sent to my house early on the day.
• Go thro emcee's script. Prepare our own wedding speech.

1 week to go...(Early Sept 2010)

• Finalise all minor arrangements that hasn't been done.
• Arrange for a bridesmaid to accompany me and help me on the day
• Give all payments to bestman; leave him to pay the respective people.

On the day (12 Sept 2010)

• Let chief bridesmaid take charge of everything which includes reminding the other attendants of their duties.

pain in the ass

Planning for a wedding can be such a pain in the ass lol.
hotel bookings, negotiating of packages, bridal studio packages, negotiating of packages, planning of guest list (with sudden heart attacks frm parents), planning.. planning.. planning and all the incessant planning.

good gracious.

thank god, i got the first two out of the way within a month. = =
will now focus on fine-tuning the details.

sitting down with 'Sophia' gave me the bad vibes altho they have nice gowns. seriously. a major rip off. thank god i had some sanity with me to walk out AND not return the next day as well.

stepping into another bridal boutique in bugis area wasn't great either. the gown was alrite. the package was so-so but the album....a big no.

somehow, both times i had my instinct screaming inside my head. i should learn to trust my instinct. when i stepped into Sattine there was a strange good feeling. weird but anyway. all's well since i got my package there. just hope the rest is ok too.

thank goodness iman was with me when i checked out the bridal shops. don't think i can handle the search alone. sigh.

i'm starting to have some funny ideas for my wedding actual day.
let's see how it goes.

we were invited to gu's HR SVP's hse along with the rest of gu's colleagues from Discovery. her hse is HUGE! and she prepared a feast for us. we got lost a little while trying to find her house and it kinda dawns unto me how great the disparity between the rich, the middle-income grp, and the poor can be. just look at the houses! omg. i must admit for a moment there, it did inspire me to wanna just push myself to a point in my career where i could perhaps...one fine day afford all these...but then, that thought kinda float away real soon thereafter lol.

I ordered cupcakes from Faridah for Sing's birthday heh.
a tad too sweet for me but it has chocolate fillings and a surprise cookie inside!!

Surprise of the year!

my lovely colleagues crowded around my desk and gave me one of the best presents i've ever received. XD

I've been warned that something's coming my way altho i have no clue what it was and today was the day to reveal the mysterious package they've gotten for me.

wrapped inside a isetan paper bag was this queer looking pink box.
in fact, when i took it out i was still pretty clueless what it was.
i thought perhaps it was some figurine.
there was this picture on the box so i was 50% sure it's some sort of figurine UNTIL i turned it to the other side and found the word 'fragrance' lol.

so it's a perfume!

and it's the strangest looking thing ever!

what i was later informed, was that this is a line of perfume launched by Gwen Stefani with her Harajuku back up dancers and my figurine was one of the back up dancers with hair like grapes and i thought it looked like 'da chang jing' (jewel in the palace). lolx

but the cuteness of it all grows on me and the more i look at it the more i like it.
the perfume smells like baby powder. i like. haha better than flower scent.

AFA 2008

the place was damn crowded la.
but i saw some really cute stuff going on and the nendos in the display shelves!!!!

this lil figurines in the bottles actually moves!!! there's some sort of mechanism going on in the cap and so it'll jerk the strings that's attached to the limbs of the figurine inside and it moves!! very cute and very tempted to randomly get it but i think i rather save the $. ^ ^;



this one got me pretty wild. i can make my own MINI FOOD! omg. the very thing that can drive me insane. any handicraft-DIY thingy drives me wild actually. imagine making mini takopachi or mini donuts and puddings myself. actually... now that i think about it... i kinda regret not buying one to try. but then again.. it's expensive....



ah this stupid mame commercial LOL i actually helped MH translate the japanese script cos they wanted to air it in TW!!! omg la damn stupid lol can't imagine they brought this here. it's some peapod keychain thingy where you can compulsively press on it to have a mini pea pop its head out from the peapod.



these dolls are all quite fascinating...to look at...from the shelves that is.
i have this innate phobia for dolls with human faces (ever since Chucky, DAMN U!) and so yea. i don't keep dolls with human faces @ home. nendroids doesn't count tho. XD

wah lau u have no clue but i went wild once i saw this. someone was commenting 'aye isn't that lucky star' and i just reached out my hands and grabbed it off the shelve. I DON'T CARE IT'S MINE AH!!!

i wanted to get just konata actually but they told me it's a set. had to go aaaaaaaall the way to the basement to draw cash cos i didn't have enough with me. i asked the shopkeeper at least 3 times if she'll remember my face when i return and she MUST KEEP IT FOR ME!! and swear deep in my heart that i'll burn her booth if she doesn't. she say i have to get back within the hour. i practically chiong-ed to the nearest ATM.

My 25th Birthday

Had a splendid time preparing for my BBQ (rather hectic but it was all worth it) and I'm just glad it turned out fine and the crowd that came was great too. The food was great and many helped prepared some of the stuff and luckily I was sane enough to cut down on the amount of meat we bought this year that we hardly had any leftover (unlike last year!!) ^ ^;

Wilson has been a great help with the buying of groceries and stuff and being the driver of the day on Saturday. He even bought me two cakes! The chalet was sponsored by my lovely east coast kakis and thank god cos it started raining in the afternoon. If i was left to make the decision myself I would've booked just a BBQ pit. O_O

I enjoy preparing food and enjoy feeding people and to see all happy fed faces was my greatest return. a colleague asked me why bother with all the preparation when it's my birthday and i should've left it to others. it's what i like to do i guess. as long as i enjoy doing what i do, that's what counts right? even if some people don't understand that, so long as somebody out there does, it's good enough for me.

it was a little nerve wrecking at first when no one seemed to reply about whether they'll be coming beforehand to help and i did started out with all the food preparation alone and towards the end, help started coming in and although i've pretty much finished up most of the food preparation, the help that came in later did magic afterall haha.

i probably had a bit too much alcohol? all thanks to my lovely colleagues with their crazy rule about me not being the winner = i have to drink. damn. and CL topping up my cup constantly with great amt of liqour.

i was actually very touched on sunday cos gu have been the sweetest thing. i was still a little groggy from the night before and wasn't fully sober so gu had to guide me around but the thing was, he had very sleep as well. probably just an hour or two but he still brought me to AFA cos he knew i wanted to go and even remembered to buy me my fav Mr. Brown coffee when we were at the petrol station. that caught me my surprise but oh well heh! he wasn't feeling too well cos of the lack of sleep but he didn't complain either. just patiently followed me around while we squeezed through the crowd in AFA. altho it was the second day of the event already, it's still damn crowded. to reward my dear, i treated him to MOF haha!

i must be too used to feeling numb. this is getting irritating. things might change for the better once i reach TW i guess. new ppl new sights gets me perked up.

i'm finally done with two of my more urgent assignments that's due in may, one of which i've already submitted beforehand and another that i've just finished writing and need some fine tuning before i submit it before due date as well.

i've been rushing my ass off cos of these assignments and the fact that one of the due date falls on the period when i'm gonna be off to Taiwan and back only a week later. tsk tsk.

gotta attend classes this fri, sat and sun as well.
there goes my weekend and braincells again. omg.

i made some online orders lately but guess i won't be able to receive the stuff till i'm back.

I can't quite remember when this is actually except we were here first before heading to bar stop next to celebrate colin's bdae. that night gu and I both turned into 'merlions' puking downstairs our hdb block to prevent hangover the next day hahahahaha the next morn we went o'er and checked the grass patch we puked on and the part gu puked DECOMPOSED!! as in turn brown. Kinda miss our old office. my old seat. damnit. miss TM & century sq, miss the good, miss the ease of transport, miss the fried fish beehoon, miss the bead shop, miss MH and Ash, too much of what's lost and cannot be replaced.

we had a pretty bz time a week before and after the shift. plenty of packing and unpacking to do, it's been pretty nerve wrecking.

ppl come and go but too many has left recently, most of which r ppl that i really liked having around and now that they're gone, life in the office has become somewhat dull-er than before.

not that there's nothing good about the shift... just that the bad overweighs the good. sigh.

i went o'er to ching's hse to visit first during the earlier half of the afternoon before heading off to my uncle's house for visiting.

it's a once a year thing and all my relatives (father's side) will just gather to my uncle's hse.
it's like a one stop station basically.

we arrived a little later than we normally do (tho we still ended up being the earlier few to arrive) tsk tsk tsk...

we all probably missed out one or two family members who came earlier in the day.
but oh well, so did everyone else haha

unlike chingling's hse where we were being greeted by this huge grp of kids blocking the doorway and chattering non stop. i nearly went crazy. it's been awhile since there's been a child in the family. i'm somewhere around the middle if you were to go and count in order of age amongst me and my cousins. the oldest one has probably just hit his thirties not so long ago and just got married last year or so.

this year wilson's a smart boboy. he borrowed his brother's car out to drive us in. hehehe save me the trouble from sitting on his bike when it's a day where i deliberately dress up a little more and pinned my hair up. no complaints from the folks about his driving skills so i guess it's a PASS! gu drove to send my parents and i back home first. he dropped me off at chingling's house where i hung out with ching and HL first and he stayed home for a couple hours to spend some time with his family first. later in the evening he joined us at east coast park's mcdonald.

talked cock as usual hahaha since all our brain cells are pretty much fried and cant think too intelligently so we talked crapped about work shite, office politics, and stupid ppl.

a cute cat came and sat near me but it was hiding behind the plants. took some pictures of it but forgot to post it up. she's pretty ppl shy.

by the time we're leaving the 'amusement park'... well not exactly a park as per se but yea there were these rides that stopped operations already but the gang decided to randomly pose in it anyway.

Hello, 2008

又迈入了新的一年。
感触应该很多吧？
只觉得近年来，时间都过得非常快。
2007...我都干了些什么？
回顾一下吧？

注：以下《回顾篇》是不照顺序的。原谅我吧？我记忆不好啦！

想法/感情/友谊

性格上，算得上是有变得比较积极，“友善”，也因此结交到了些新的朋友。
虽然说友谊上，有得也有失，“失”是什么，我不想多说。不过“得”到的，
一辈子难忘。可以说是和好几位朋友塑造了个更坚固的感情。
在这一年里，我陪伴了些朋友度过一些感情上比较艰难的日子。
不过好在不开心的日子也过了。看到朋友的坚强，我不禁替她们感到骄傲。

终于有了住在我家附近的朋友，能偶尔串串门子，喝杯奶茶什么的。
看似简单却可欲不可求。

成功的报读大学。

我终于...踏出了新加坡国际！到了吉隆坡！
活到24岁才第一次出国，有够可怜的。
不过是跟我家阿牛和好友一起出国，所以很好玩的说。

亲自体验到跟PRODUCER等级的工作人员在当地拍摄的感觉。
感触很多。算是初体验所以很多事情，还反应不过来。
不过能够去也是件好事。能学到新事物。

换了新发型。

终于，事隔8年后，我鼓起了勇气自己去了牙医洗牙。
我看我因该是疯了。

成功的举办了BBQ 2007！！
虽然当中出了点小篓子，
有些人也没能来到，
不过大致上还是很顺利。

2007我开始吃韩国餐也迷上了他们料理。
我的最爱是 yuh gae jang 和 年糕!!!!!
说到韩国，今年也眯上了很多韩剧。

吃了生平最好吃的CHAWANMUSHI （KELVIN哥做的！）和 COROQUETTE (北海道食展）。

动物/宠物

认识了我家楼下的肥猫和它的同等猫类。
可惜仁慈的那两只小猫被抓走了。

黑仔和白仔都过世了。

无意间捡到了MUSHROOM。
可惜我妈妈怕猫，所以自己不能领养。
不过后来还是替它找了了位好饲主。
现在它可是位妈咪了。

gu and i went shopping earlier on that day and we bought quite a number of stuff from FOX MEN/WOMEN. they were having post-xmas sale and it was a gd grab! i bought two shorts and gu bought two tshirts. i even bought a dress for CNY already. no need to worry about shopping for the nxt 2 mths.

p.s. i had hangover the nxt day. it's been awhile since i drank hard liquor and twice in a row in two weeks is abit xiong for my stomach irregardless whether i'm drunk or not. (i wasn't)

So... i pretty much puked my guts out the nxt day starting from 9am till 2pm, puking out whatever i choose to eat. so i ate nothing but drank tonnes of warm water and end up puking them out again. oh well, "washing" my intestines with warm water perhaps a gd idea too.

POTLUCK AND MORE POTLUCK!!

my "specialty" to bring to potlucks nowadays, is the dijon deviled eggs.
muahahaha

ever since learning how to prepare it from an online website and trying it out during my BBQ during 2007, it has more or less garnered quite a 'fan' base of people who tried it and loved it.

it's easy to prepare and taste good.
SO, i shall continue with this until everyone gets sick of it.

we were supposed to have potluck @ Colin's place on Saturday night.
it was supposed to start at around 8pm+, 9pm but well,
unforseen circumstances often occurs and gu and i pretty much got there at around 10pm instead. we were starving so we went down to the kopitiam to grab some food first.

i started preparing the eggs in the later part of the day at around 7pm or so after learning that we'll most prob be starting the potluck late. i got to watch my "Jumeng" first. hehe

gu bought donuts.

i finally completed making the three bead purse keychains Yuki ordered from me (my Wednesday, December 19, 2007 entry) and brought it along with me to the potluck to pass it to her. heh.

It was a good night spent hanging out with some neighbourhood people and most importantly, THERE'S SOUP!!!! i love drinking soup and Yuki made a whole pot full of soup and i helped myself to three bowls full of them hehehehehehe the soup was well done like my mommy's and for those who drank the soup, they drank at least 2 bowls!

beer, wine, mahjong, food, tidbits and tv expected.
along with lotsa crapping of course.
time seems to fly by then and soon, it's turning 3AM!
shocking.
5 hours just went by in what seems like a blink and HL msged us. lol

yea, at 3am.

she's finally done with celebrating with her ex-classmates and was checking if we're still around.
THE NIGHT (erm day?) IS STILL YOUNG!
so we told her to drop by anyway.

with another round of crapping and drinking soup,
2 hours flew by and ZOMG IT'S 5+AM in the morning!!
i would've loved to hang around longer BUT, I can't.
got another round of potluck the nxt day with my ex-KC classmates/schoolmates.

damn cool lah hahahaha and very funny sight.
anyway, it's a vespa. very safe de.

gu and i walked home slowly and when we opened the home door,
hehehe.. lights were all lit up in the living room.

momsy and dad is up!!! OMG la hahahahaha
then mom chided us jokingly that we got home to sleep only when ppl are waking up. tsk tsk.

we concussed right away and it's the nxt morning already.

the moment i woke up i started preparing the food that i'll be bringing to the potluck (the eggs lah, duh!). i let wilson sleep a little longer till it's nearly 12pm before waking him up to have him send me to yvonne's condo.

the new The Icon condo located in Tanjong Pagar has lotsa nice shops below (as expected, for expats and ppl who earns big bucks), the condo my friend is temporarily staying in has a great view. too bad there's no furnitures in the house yet so we pretty much sat on the floor and ate.

not that it mattered anyway.

lotsa people came reaaaaaally late and those who came early (a pitiful sum of 3 and that includes me) were starving big time. so we entertained ourselves mainly by playing with my yvonne's baby. heh

baby has a trick up her sleeves! she can raise her eyebrow like The Rock!! and it twitches cutely.

my eggs were well liked (see!? proven receipe hahaha) and surprisingly, quite a number of people managed to turn up. it's a pity Feng couldn't join us that day but i did end up getting to meet WX whom i've not met since years after i left KC secondary. she didn't recognize me at first until i told her who i was. lol

ah it's not the first time i get such reactions anymore but it's a pleasant surprise.

as usual, i'm the one who talks very little during gatherings (depends).

Denise knitted this super duper cute blankie for baby.

would love to do something like this someday as well.

after having learnt that she knits quite alot as a hobby and quite a no of my ex sch mates would meet up with her to knit, i've exchanged my numbers with her and we've agreed to meet up and knit together someday soon. probably in january.

some after thoughts
1. I'm glad for the gathering at Colin's house.
core reason for me being glad, i guess, was because this has already been a scenario that i've dreamt of. i have not many neighbourhood ppl / friends that i know of who AT LEAST live within walking distance frm my hse until recent years. havin friends who normally always live either in the central, if not, west side of singapore... is not the most convenient thing. having live so far apart, the ability to meet up face to face diminishes and most of the interactions comes from MSN chats or if not, occasional smses. to hang out till wee hours is rare since we each have our committments now and having to go home in diff directions.. doesnt help if you can't share cab. if even MSN chats or occasional smses lessens, i really don't know what to do. i enjoy the night and like to spend time just chilling with ppl at night. this really helped.

2. i'm glad i initiated asking denise if i could join them to knit.
me, in my old self, would think about it forever and rephrase that question ten thousand times in my mind but end up not saying it.
